Nostalgic Homes Explores New Years Activities in the Denver Highlands
New Years Activities in the Denver Highlands
Glitzy, glittery ball drops, endless streams of confetti, booming fireworks and some of the best parties of the year can only mean one thing – New Years in Denver. Perhaps one of the most exciting times to be a Denver Highlands resident or visitor, our team at Nostalgic Homes explores the many New Years activities available to you this holiday season. Whether you’re looking for the hippest party in downtown Denver, a family-oriented celebration before bedtime, or a spectacular fireworks show, you’ll find it all here in Denver and the Highlands.
Families with children can enjoy several New Years activities throughout the day on Monday including The Children’s Museum of Denver’s “Noon Year’s Eve” celebration. Open from 9am to 4pm, with ball drops happening on the hour from 10am to 3pm, the museum will host a party filled with excitement and fun, as well as many art projects for the kids. Garbanzo Mediterranean Grill will also be on site with free grilled cheese pita samples and a prize wheel! The skating rink at Belmar will also be holding a countdown to “noon,” with ticket prices ranging from $4 to $6 and hours from 11am to 4pm. Families can also enjoy free holiday skating at the Southwest Rink at Skyline Park; bring your own skates or rent a pair at a minimal cost.
A widely popular holiday tradition in Denver, the New Year’s Even Fireworks over Downtown Denver will once again sparkle over the 16th Street Mall – presented by the Downtown Denver Partnership, Visit Denver, and the Downtown Denver Business Improvement District. In conjunction with the Partnership’s Winter in the City program, two exceptional fireworks displays will happen at 9pm and at Midnight. For the best seats in the house, our team at Nostalgic Homes recommends standing along the 16th Street Mall. Costumed entertainers will also be interacting with crowds between shows, featuring magicians, characters, balloon artists, stilt walkers, comedians and more.
The City and County Building is another great stop for both families and couples to enjoy this holiday season. The largest lighting displace in Denver comes on nightly at 6pm, where 600,000 lights deck the neo-classical building. The bell tower also plays carols nightly. This is a fun and free event available to Denver residents and visitors.
Other popular activities include the New Year’s celebration at the Jet Hotel in LoDo Denver presented by New Years
Denver; Denver’s Grandest New Year’s Eve Party hosted by the Grand Hyatt Denver, with three parties, a champagne toast and dinner buffet; and World Music Night at the Lakewood Cultural Center, featuring holiday music to celebrate the New Year in style. Many restaurants will also be open throughout the holiday including 1515 Restaurant in LoDo, which is currently running New Year’s Eve specials.
